Stalking Game and Waterfowl
Hunting is regulated, and there are a limited number of reservations available, so people planning a hunting expedition into Lake of the Woods are advised to contact a local Ontario government’s Ministry of Natural Resource office for regulations and licensing information. Depending on the season, hunters can expect to find ducks (bluebill, mallard and teal), geese, grouse, bear and deer.

The Aulneau Peninsula is a relatively undeveloped wilderness that juts far into Lake of the Woods and is surrounded by thousands of islands. Professional guides are recommended for hunting activity on the Peninsula, where all hunting is strictly regulated and available on a reservation basis. Only primitive weapon hunting is allowed on Aulneau.
